What is new in March ?

March is the month of women and also the month of youth and enthusiasm. March also has international events calling for community actions: World Water Day – March 22, Vietnam Social Work Day – March 25, Earth Hour Day – March 27

Along with these events are exciting activities, happily received by the community, showing the increasing concern of people about social and environmental activities.

Let’s review some of community news and highlights in March!


[10/3] Tokyo Olympic – Olympic Games for gender equality

Organizers of the 2020 Tokyo Olympics (which will take place in 2021 but keeps the same name) say this year’s Summer Olympics will aim at gender equality.


[19/03] UNICEF warns of lack of clean water to for children’s needs

More than 1.42 billion people worldwide, including 450 million children, are living in highly vulnerable or severely vulnerable areas.


[22/03] Vietnam may lack clean water in next 10 years due to pollution

Pollution is one of the main causes of water shortages. According to the report, currently, more than 70% of the water in rivers nationwide cannot be used for drinking or hygiene. The World Bank forecasts show that, if the pollution cannot be addressed, Vietnam will not only be short of clean water to use but also has to buy water at high prices and lose up to 4% of GDP by 2035.


[27/03] Vietnam saves 353,000 kWh of electricity in one light-off hour on Earth Hour 2021

After 1 hour of turning off the lights in response to the Earth Hour 2021 campaign last night (March 27), the whole country saved 353,000 kWh of electricity, which worth about 658.1 million VND.


[28/03] Get free socks made from … plastic bottles

On weekends, young people bring plastic bottles to Team Re. Socks group to exchange for lovely socks and to spread the message of green living, raising awareness about protecting the environment. Trading activities will take place until 19:00 on March 28 at 169 Tran Huy Lieu, Phu Nhuan District, Ho Chi Minh City. After the event, 50% of the profits will be contributed to Vietnam Clean & Green.
